Biography for Kim Sponaugle

Upon graduating from The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Kim’s first job was working as a children's curriculum associate designer for David Cook Publishing. She has worn many art hats since, but has found her "home" illustrating for children. In 2001, Kim illustrated two books with author Pam Halter for Concordia Publishing House entitled "The Adventures of Beatrice - Beatrice Loses Her Doll" and "New Clothes" which began her journey into book illustration.

In 2007 Kim started Picture Kitchen Studio and has not looked back, illustrating more than 20 children's books with more on the way. Randy Kazandy Where Are Your Glasses? is the first book she has illustrated with author Rhonda Fischer.

Kim comes from a family of storytellers. She remembers the roar of laughter around the supper table as her father unpacked stories from his youth. Now, Kim feels very grateful to God that she has been given the opportunity to tell stories for kids through illustration.

A South Jersey girl, and some-times potted plant, Kim enjoys life with her best friend & husband Jerry, musical son Josh and bug-eating Westie, Casey.
